TGIF!! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Do you have tons of plans? I have no plans~

Sometimes in daily spoken English, native speakers BREAK the grammar rules...and that's okay! Today, I will teach you one of those "broken" expressions! You'll be able to use it JUST LIKE an American! (if you want!!)

Have a great weekend,
Coach Shane

PS--if you are Polish or Brazilian--you can start DDM free! With LIVE classes--listen to the end of the podcast and sign up FOR FREE!

Today’s English expression and dialog:

no traffic/tons of traffic

Wow! There’s no traffic here!

What’s it like where you’re from?

Tons of traffic 24/7.

Ew~ I’m not a fan of traffic!

If someone scares you OR makes you nervous, then you can use today's expression! Sometimes our WIFE/HUSBAND or our BOSS or our TEACHER or the NEWS (TV/newspaper) can scare us or make us nervous...but, if you are like me, NOTHING makes me nervous. Nothing scares me.

Do you believe that?!!

Have a super day!
Coach Shane

Today’s English expression and dialog:

to rattle someone

Hey, Shane, I need to talk.

Oh. Sure. What’s up?

I’m…I’m really…I’m really hungry. Can I have the last cookie?

What? You rattled me!! Go ahead!

Today's podcast is a phrase that means "worthless" or "nothing". This expression is VERY useful--but it IS a "casual" expression, so I wouldn't use it in a formal setting!

Have a FANTASTIC Wednesday, everyone!
Coach Shane

Today’s English expression and dialog:

It don’t mean jack~

I promise I won’t do it again.

Promises, promises.

Really. This time I mean it.

Your promises don’t mean jack anymore.

And that's what I love trying to do--make mastering English fun and easy!! Have a fantastic day!

Is there a city in the world that does NOT have stores that are open CONSTANTLY? 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. No holidays...always open.
VERY convenient, right? But...now that I have moved to the country, no more of that!! If I want to go to a big supermarket at 3am, I will have to drive almost 45 minutes. If I want a McDonald's hamburger at 3 am, I will have to drive two hours!!
Am I complaining? Not at all--24/7 is too much! What do you think?

Have a SUPER week,
Coach Shane

Today’s English expression and dialog:

24/7

Let’s go to Ralph’s.

Ralph’s is closed.

No. They’re 24/7 now.

Really? When’d they change?

It's FRIDAY!! I hope that you have an excellent day and weekend! Do you have any special plans? It will be raining where I live, so I'll be stuck at home...I guess I'll read! And sleep! And ride my bike on my indoor trainer~!!

Today's expression is EXCELLENT--you can find an example if you think for a minute or two. I would love to see your example--leave a comment!

Have a SUPER weekend,
Coach Shane

Today’s English expression and dialog:

Work hard, play hard. Right?

Yeah, that is how MANY of us live...but let me tell you: be careful with that "play hard"!! One day, all that "hard" will come back to you! As I near 50 years on this Earth--my youthful days of running and playing team sports have come back... NOT as enjoyment, but as pain!! When you are young, the pain you experience exercising usually goes away quickly, but as you get older...it never goes away!! What is the HORRIBLE pain? You'll learn about that today!

Have a PAIN-FREE day!
Coach Shane

Today’s English expression and dialog:

chronic pain

You okay? Another headache?

This chronic pain is too much.

You need to see a doctor.

Any recommendations?

Sometimes there are plans that MUST BE STOPPED.
Sometimes there are people who MUST BE STOPPED!!

In that case, there is an expression that you can use to emphasize that they MUST BE STOPPED!! I will teach you that great expression in today's podcast. And for a little assignment; I want to hear from you: what plans MUST BE STOPPED? What people MUST BE STOPPED?!!

Have a wonderful day!
Coach Shane

Today’s English expression and dialog:

to put the kibosh on something

What happened to your restaurant idea?

Oh~ My dad put the kibosh on it.

Why?

He said I couldn’t even make a grilled cheese sandwich~
